Doctor Visit Card Applications
As you may be aware, the government recently announced the expansion of free GP care to all children under the age of 8 and to households earning below the new median income threshold. Eligible current practice patients can apply in the coming months as follows:

If your child is aged 6 or 7, you can apply online for a Doctor Visit Card from 11th August 2023.

If your household earns below the median income (€47,000 per year after deductibles) you can apply online for a Doctor Visit Card. The extension of free GP care on income grounds will take place in two phases, on September 11th and November 13th.

About Ballymote Family Practice
Ballymote Family Practice was established in 2011. It is located in the Ballymote Primary Care and Mental Health Centre. We provide GP services and work alongside a range of other community services such as public health nursing, mental health services, podiatry, dental health services , physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Our facilities are purpose built and modern. We have onsite wheelchair accessible parking and ambulance bays are provided.
We are a GP training practice affiliated with the Sligo GP Training scheme. We also support placements for medical students from NUIG and nursing students from St. Angela’s college in Sligo.
We provide a comprehensive range of medical and nursing services to our patients, supported by our administration team.
These services include; men and women's health, paediatric health, chronic disease management (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, asthma and COPD), antenatal and postnatal care, vaccinations, cervical smear taking, long-acting reversible contraception, cryotherapy as well as various other examinations and screenings.
It is our aim to provide our patients with the highest standard of care in a dignified, confidential and kind manner.
